Melanie Michele Photography is located in the quaint village of Cedars in Montgomery County, PA. With facilities for both inside and outside portraiture, Melanie's studio can fit most everyone's needs. She is also available for travel to your home or a favorite park for a small fee. Specializing in portrait photography, we are Melanie Michele and Dee Mitchell, a mother and daughter team. Melanie Michele is the creator of each image displayed on this site. She strives to capture photographic memories that you, your family and your friends will treasure for a life time. Dee is on the business end of things assuring that only the finest quality goes into your photographs and frequently acts as Melanie’s photographing assistant. Having a good photography assistant as a partner is key in the efforts that produce fine photographic results. Our mission is to work together to create pleasant experiences for our clients while providing high quality, professional services with a personal touch. We are committed to striving for excellence through continuing education. Melanie Michele loves creating photographic art. She has a gift for turning that special moment into beautiful imagery. With a relaxed style, she works with subjects to create that unique photograph you and your family will treasure. |

ABOUT MELANIE Always an avid camera buff, Melanie was the child that spent her field trip souvenir money on yet another disposable camera. Melanie attended Antonelli Institute of Art and Photography in Erdenheim, PA. Following graduation in 1997, she worked for MotoPhoto and Portrait Studio in East Norriton, PA doing mostly portrait work and covering some weddings for the studio. Melanie left PA and moved to Atlanta, GA where she worked for The Marietta Daily Journal as a staff photographer. While there she photographed the Firecracker 500 for the paper, as well as for the Atlanta Motor Speedway. Returning to PA with injuries following a motor vehicle accident, Melanie resumed her job at MotoPhoto while she recuperated and did freelance photography on the side. Melanie left her portrait studio job to pursue her dream of photography, photography, photography. Starting out doing “favors” for family and friends, Melanie ventured out into the world of environmental portraits and weddings. As most photographers need to do for their first few years, Melanie supplements her dream by working part time as a bartender. In November 2006, Melanie was able to open up her own studio in Cedars, PA. After trying out several avenues, Melanie has decided to devote her time to portrait photography, especially maternity, infants, children, family and pet portraiture. Melanie belongs to the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), The National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) and The American Child Photographers Charity Guild (ACPCG.) Now Melanie is looking forward to taking her career to the next level. And with the help of her mother, Dee, as her assistant, she plans to go all the way to the top! |

ABOUT DEE Dee is a registered nurse newly specializing in hospice nursing. With a background in interventional radiology and critical care, she is enjoying this new challenge. She is a member of the American Radiological Nurses Association (ARNA) and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) and is a Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN). Recently she has been trying her hand at hospice nursing and is enjoying the new challenge. Although always interested in photography, she never dreamed that she would someday be as intimately involved as she is today. Use of her nursing organizational skills and critical thinking has brought a different perspective to the art of photography. With two grown children, Melanie and Rob, and one grandchild, Nicholas, Dee has always been a supportive mother and grandmother. Now, she is very excited about being teamed with her favorite (and only) daughter, Melanie Michele. Together they are looking forward to having fun experiences while creating beautiful portraiture for their clients. |

ABOUT OUR EQUIPMENT We use Nikon Cameras. Why? Well, when Melanie was getting ready to go to photography school, we asked friends, family, professionals and photography instructors about the brand of camera they preferred and why. It seemed to us that the Nikon camera buffs were a little more excited about their cameras than the Canon people. Many of the photographers and professionals inherited their first “real” camera from someone in the family and it was usually a Canon with Canon lens’. And since cameras are usually bought to fit the lens’ you have and not the other way around, they stayed with Canon. Two of the Canon people said they would have preferred Nikon, but that it was economically impossible. None of the Nikon wished they had a Canon. So that made Nikon an easy choice for us and Melanie has been very happy using her Nikon cameras, lens' and equipment. |
